For many working families, a safe and stable place to live has not always come with the opportunity to build something lasting. Even with steady employment, careful planning, and commitment to creating a better future, the path to homeownership can remain difficult to reach.
Through Habitat for Humanity, families are not simply receiving the keys to a house. They are opening a door to greater stability, new possibilities, and a foundation that can continue to benefit their children for years to come.
Because of you, the trajectory of an entire family is changing.
This change became tangible for a local single mother and her two children in 2025. As the family stepped into a home of their own through Habitat for Humanity, all three were filled with overwhelming joy.
As a first-time homeowner, this mother gained more a place for her and her family to live. She gained a foundation from which she and her children can build. She gained hope and a future.
The home itself carries special meaning. It was completed as a Women Build project, bringing women together to raise funds and help construct a home for a local mother and her children.
Their work continues to make a lasting impact on the family, but the experience also remains meaningful to the women who participated. Along the way, they learned valuable skills, worked together as a team, and gained the pride of knowing they helped build a home.
Even now, they can drive by and be reminded that their hands helped create a place where a family is building a future.
That spirit of women coming together to strengthen another family also reflects the heart of Women in Philanthropy.
At the 2025 Women in Philanthropy Luncheon, this project was honored as one of three grant recipients. This investment was made possible through the Madison County Community Foundation and the collective generosity of women committed to strengthening our community.
