Grace Horizon
For many women experiencing exploitation, the challenges they face did not begin with a single event. Histories of instability, trauma, and unmet needs often create circumstances that can leave individuals vulnerable and limit opportunities for a different future. Without meaningful support, these struggles can affect not only the women themselves but also the next generation.
Because of you, however, their stories are changing.
At Grace Horizon, women and children are finding healing, hope, and restoration. Through a whole-person approach to care, they receive emotional, physical, and practical support as they recover from the trauma they have endured for so long. With each step toward healing, lives are being transformed and brighter futures are becoming possible.
At the 2025 Women in Philanthropy Luncheon, this project was honored as one of three grant recipients. This investment was made possible through the Madison County Community Foundation and the collective generosity of women committed to strengthening our community.
Over the last two years Grace Horizon has helped 60 individuals secure safe and stable housing. While housing is an important first step, it marks only the beginning of each woman’s journey toward healing and independence. With the support of Grace Horizon’s staff, women build job skills, maintain employment, learn budgeting and financial management, and work toward emotional healing.
The women who come to Grace Horizon are met with compassion, understanding, and respect. Staff members strive to see each woman and child as a whole person, recognizing their unique experiences, strengths, and potential. Through this holistic approach, Grace Horizon supports not only immediate needs but also long-term growth and wellbeing.
One mother’s journey illustrates the profound impact of this work. After years in a violent relationship, a hard-working mother of four made the courageous decision to leave and seek safety for herself and her children. She was quickly connected with a housing coordinator who secured safe housing and helped her to begin rebuilding stability. The coordinator also connected her with a trauma-informed therapist, giving her space to process the emotional weight of her courageous decision to begin healing. With consistent support she moved from survival to stability and hope. Today, she and her children are living safely in a stable home, free from violence, and able to focus on healing and rebuilding their future.
Grace Horizon has also partnered with the Madison County Community Foundation by opening the Grace Horizon Endowment Fund. This fund was established to provide permanent, sustainable funding so this life-restoring work can continue for generations to come.
