For a small community, traditions have a way of becoming more than dates on a calendar. They become the places where neighbors reconnect, families make memories, and a community celebrates the history and character that make it feel like home.

Frankton Heritage Days brings generations together to experience that sense of connection. Honoring the community’s past while creating new memories and traditions that will carry forward. It is a celebration of local pride, shared history, and the people who continue to invest their time and energy into keeping Frankton connected.

Because of you, a community tradition continues to bring people together and the story of Frankton continues to be celebrated, shared, and passed on.

For more than 50 years, Heritage Days has transformed the third weekend of September into a hometown celebration filled with rides, a circus, vendors, activities, and opportunities for families and friends to reconnect. Its longtime phrase, “Where folks get together for old times’ sake,” still captures what makes the festival special.

Behind the celebration is a volunteer board of only eight to ten people. They spend months preparing for the festival while also balancing careers, families, and everyday responsibilities. But in Frankton, they know they can count on their community. When a need is shared, someone almost always steps forward to help.

That same spirit of generosity extends beyond the festival itself. Heritage Days regularly partners with organizations and community groups, creating opportunities for others to participate, share their work, and make an impact. Proceeds from the festival are also used to support nonprofit organizations and other community needs, allowing the good created during one weekend to continue long after it ends.

MCCF grants have helped Heritage Days make practical improvements that strengthen the experience for everyone. A previous grant helped improve festival shuttle transportation, while recent funding is supporting safer lighting throughout the festival area.

For Heritage Days leaders, the partnership with MCCF goes beyond funding. They value the guidance, learning opportunities, and connections with other nonprofit leaders that allow them to exchange ideas, share passions, and strengthen their work.

Now, the volunteers are beginning to imagine opportunities to bring people together beyond September, creating additional events throughout the year while building on a tradition generations already love.
