Pistole-Harp Family Fund

Kathy Harp and John Pistole have deep roots in Madison County. John attended Anderson High School and both attended Anderson College. John and Kathy recently established the Pistole-Harp Family Fund, an unrestricted fund at the Madison County Community Foundation. As they prepare to relocate east to be closer to family, this fund is their way of staying connected to the place and people they love.

John, former FBI Deputy Director and TSA Administrator, and recently retired president of Anderson University, saw firsthand the exploitation of women and children through his work combating human trafficking. Kathy, a long-time volunteer at Park Place Food Pantry, has a heart for serving those most in need. Their shared hope is that this fund will create fresh starts for underserved women in Madison County--offering dignity, safety, and opportunity--and also meet the basic needs of the most vulnerable among us.

Having served on the Foundation’s board, John witnessed how MCCF changes lives. “The Foundation helps real people with real needs,” he says. “Take action. Stop thinking about it. Be intentional. Thoughts are great. Action is better.”

The Pistole-Harp Family Fund—established with the help of the matching campaign—is a bold step toward that action. They believe that the Foundation provides a great mechanism for taking action and stewarding their resources in a way that will make a lasting impact.
