East Lynn Christian Church Legacy Fund

After more than a century of ministry and service in the Anderson community, East Lynn Christian Church discerned that it was time to conclude its ministry. In considering how to carry forward their mission, church leaders worked closely with Ben, MCCF president, and board to ensure that their legacy of faith and service would live on.

The result is the East Lynn Christian Church Legacy Fund, established this month in celebration of over 100 years of life and ministry. Rooted in Christ’s call to feed, clothe, shelter, and comfort those in need, this fund will continue to embody the church’s mission.

Deb Weber and Robert Claypool are two of the church’s board members who were involved in the process of establishing the fund. Deb reflects that even though closing the doors of the church was difficult, they now have confidence that the church will have an impact far beyond what they could have imagined.

As an Unrestricted fund, it will be matched 2:1 by Lilly Endowment and will immediately support the Foundation's Community Impact grants, addressing the county's most pressing needs. And because it is endowed, the fund will be permanently invested and will ultimately provide resources many times greater than the value of the original gift. Truly, a lasting legacy of generosity and faith!
