McDole Family Fund
For Jimmy and Koty McDole, the timing for starting a fund at Madison County Community Foundation did not seem ideal. They are currently investing in college education for their two children. However, they decided that they did not want to put off starting the fund, especially since there is 2:1 match available that triples the impact of their gift. For the McDoles, starting the fund was an opportunity and a calling. Koty says that she and Jimmy decided, “It’s time to make that adjustment in our personal financing and take this step. And since we’ve done that, it’s been exciting for us.”
Making a long term impact in the community with their children is important for Jimmy and Koty. This made the choice clear to open the McDole Family Fund. They are committed to modeling productive, helpful, and purposeful lives for their children. Starting this fund has served as another practical way to instill these values. Their daughter received a BA in social work and Koty describes her as a person of compassion. For the whole family, the fund is a way to give to the community and is a meaningful outlet for their passion geared toward giving and service.
“I feel totally confident in the committee and the foundation to be good stewards of the money, and it is really going to make a difference.” As a Named Unrestricted Fund, The McDole Family Fund contributes to Impact Madison Grants that are awarded to nonprofit organizations in Madison County each year. These grants help implement long-term solutions, respond to emergencies, and adapt to the community’s evolving social, cultural, and educational needs.
Jimmy and Koty have seen how unrestricted funds at MCCF are utilized to meet the needs in the community. “Hopefully the fund can grow and grow and really impact people long after we are gone.”
