Terri Austin

Terri Austin’s connection to MCCF runs deep—her father-in-law was one of the Foundation’s founding board members, and she first partnered with MCCF in the late 1990s while helping write a grant. A former state legislator and longtime educator, Terri brings a wealth of experience in leadership and community service, including her role on the Flagship Enterprise board.

Family is central to Terri’s life. She and her husband, Michael, live in Anderson and are proud parents of two children. Having grown up in Elwood, she treasures her roots in Madison County and the opportunity to give back to the place her family calls home.

For Terri, joining the MCCF board was the perfect way to combine her professional background and passion for community. She’s learned through her years of service that “relationships are crucial to any successful effort,” and values how the Foundation not only provides financial resources but also fosters connections to strengthen organizations. Terri emphasizes that the Foundation is a worthwhile investment at any level, through committee service, financial gifts of any size, or leaving a legacy. “It’s about leaving a lasting impact,” she explains.

When asked what inspires her, she’s quick to focus on people. “You can’t have a strong city if your people are not thriving,” she says. And through her work with MCCF, Terri is committed to helping build a community where individuals and families can flourish for generations to come. Terri declares, “Madison County has so many opportunities and challenges. I believe the Community Foundation has proven itself to be a valuable partner in lifting up not just the community, but people.”
