Local Restaurants Step Up to thePlate to Help Non-Profits
Bet you didn't know that when you eat at many of our community's restaurants you're actually helping out our non-profit agencies.
Anderson, IND. (March 8, 2010) - Hoosier Park Racing and Casino held two weeks of charity slot tournaments where participants entered by donating new toys or cash with a value of at least $10 dollars. The event was held to benefit Madison County's Alternative Giving program and The Salvation Army of Anderson toy drive.This year's $15,000 Charity Slot Tournament saw an increase in participation with a total of $7,450 in cash donations being collected and distributed to Madison County's Alternative Giving Drive.
"The response this year was better than what we expected, and really speaks to the giving spirit of our customers and the surrounding Anderson community," said Jahnae Erpenbach, VP of Marketing at Hoosier Park. "Our customers had a great time competing for their share of $15,000 while contributing to a great cause."
In addition, Hoosier Park collected and donated more than 900 toys to the Salvation Army Anderson Citadel.
"Thanks to Hoosier Park, the Salvation Army provided toys to more than 1,400 children this holiday season with each child receiving an average of seven gifts." said Nathan Harms, Captain of The Salvation Army Anderson Citadel. "This holiday season it was especially important to meet the increased demand and Hoosier Park was an integral part of that."
The slot tournament series took place over a two week time period beginning Monday, December 7 through Thursday, December 10 and again Monday, December 14 through Thursday, December 17. Each tournament consisted of seventeen sessions with the top session winner receiving a holiday poinsettia and the top 20 participants each day winning a cash prize of up to $1,000.
