The Madison County Community Foundation has been providing funding, which originates from donor advised funds, agency endowments, scholarships and other types of restricted funds to the Madison County community since 1994. In addition, grants to community organizations are also supported through unrestricted funds in the Foundation. These grants are reviewed by a Grants Committee and then are approved by the Foundation Board.

Announcing the 2008 Anderson Rotary Club Grant Opportunity!

The Anderson Rotary Club with the support of the Madison County Community Foundation is awarding grants to not-for-profit groups and community wide organizations for programs/projects serving Madison County residents. Announcing The Spring 2008 Grant Cycle

The Madison County Community Foundation is pleased to announce its Spring 2008 grant cycle and the availability of funds to community wide organizations and programs. The proposed programs or initiatives must be designed to benefit residents of Madison County, Indiana and address community needs in one of the following areas: arts and culture, education, health, human services, economic development or civic affairs. The Madison County Community Foundation has awarded $464,902.26 in grants and scholarships from both restricted and unrestricted funds in 2007.

2008 grants were awarded to the following organizations:

  • $2,600.00 to Alternatives, Inc of Madison County for Mending Hearts to purchase 10 basic sewing machines, 20 sewing kits and supplies for instructional, life skills class in the training center.
  • $5,000 matching grant to Anderson University Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) to cover program expenses and to expand projects working with high school students.
  • $7,450.00 to The Anderson Center for the Arts for Art-Outreach-Reaching the Madison County Community to provide arts/educational activities at various festivals and events May-September in collaboration with other community organizations.
  • $2,500 to Central Indiana Powwow to support the expansion of The Andersontown Powwow's "Education Day" component that provides meaningful Native American arts and culture activities to elementary and secondary students throughout Madison County.
  • $6,000 for CAPE, Young Readers for Success for the Parent Academy for Leadership in Schools. Participants will develop and implement a leadership project in collaboration with school principals that addresses student achievement and parental engagement.
  • $10,000 to Man4Man Ministries for Journal of Encouragement and Transition to serve men in transition from incarceration to freedom by teaching self-respect, family relationships and social skills.
  • $10,000 to West Side Hope Community Development Corp. for the New Hope Christian Pre-school Playground Construction Project to purchase age appropriate playground equipment, site preparation, installation including concrete bike paths and walks, along with safety approved fencing.
  • $10,000.00 to Wilson Boys and Girls Club to continue the MusicMakers Program for youth to teach basic music instruction, performance and the opportunity to explore their creativity while enhancing their self-esteem
  • $10,000.00 for the YMCA of Madison County to support a computer software technology upgrade.
  • $10,000.00 to Second Harvest Food Bank for the “Second Harvest on the Move sustainability program.
  • $5,000.00 to College Mentors for Kids “Anderson University Chapter” to assist with funding of transportation, activities and mentoring for first through fourth graders attending weekly visits to the Anderson University campus.
  • $5,000.00 to Salvation Army for “Tools for School” to assist with providing backpacks and school supplies for students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade in Madison County.
  • $10,000.00 to Gateway Association’s to bring the WE Care Learning Center in compliance with the 2007 Indiana State Childcare Licensing Building Codes for childcare.
  • $1,500.00 to Habitat for Humanity to replace obsolete computer and office equipment to allow staff to more efficiently operate the office.
  • $6,000.00 for Anderson Community Schools for Finance Park- My Financial Future. A culminating activity supporting the economic literacy curriculum for all ACS eighth grade students.
  • $5,000 for East Central Indiana Farmers & Hunters Feeding the Hungry to pay for meat processing of donated beef and venison that will in turn be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank.
